The 1st ML4NGP Workshop on Structural Ensembles of Intrinsically Disordered Proteins was the second official event organized by our COST. It was focused on a timely and hot topic in the field of non-globular proteins. The workshop took place at Vila Lanna from 7 to 8 May, in the beautiful city of Prague, Czech Republic.

The workshop was structured around three key aspects of the topic: (1) Experimental determination through Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), (2) Generation of structural ensembles, and (3) Comparison and validation of these ensembles. The workshop featured brief presentations followed by extensive discussion sessions, which delved into various approaches and potential challenges combining structural biology and novel machine learning techniques.

The 18 selected experts delivered interesting presentations on different approaches to extract experimental information through NMR spectroscopy, to generate IDP ensembles by computational and hybrid approaches and possible ways of validation and comparison of these ensembles. The main output of these two exciting days of scientific discussions was the plan to draft a community paper, addressing the current and future challenge on the topic.
