ML4NGP WORKSHOP

Workshop on Progress on Benchmarking IDP ensembles

February 16-17, 2026

Seville, Spain

DESCRIPTION

The goal of this meeting is to bring together leading experts in the field of intrinsically disordered proteins to discuss the implementation of the IDP Ensemble Benchmarking Challenge (IDP-Bench).

IDP-Bench is envisioned as a recurring, community-driven initiative to establish open, transparent, and standardized benchmarking for IDP ensemble prediction. This effort will follow a biennial four-phase cycle aligned with CAID, involving:

  1. Selection and curation of high-quality experimental datasets by an independent committee,
  2. Submission of ensemble predictions by participating groups,
  3. Automated, multi-metric scoring against withheld validation data, and
  4. Continuous dissemination of results via a dedicated open-access platform.

This workshop in Seville will provide the opportunity to:

  • Define the scope, procedures, and timeline of IDP-Bench,
  • Discuss dataset selection and evaluation metrics,
  • Build consensus on community involvement and governance,
  • Set the foundation for the first benchmarking cycle.
